Comedy Masala was founded by Umar Rana in September 2010 to establish a weekly Stand-up Comedy platform in Singapore, and to give anyone a chance to learn and perform stand-up comedy to a live audience. The first Comedy Masala night kicked off on 5th October 2010, and it has since seen a multitude of International, regional and local comedians get up on stage every Tuesday. In 2015, ‘The Comedy Masala Show’ was aired on international TV channel, Comedy Central Asia.
Comedy Masala’s popularity increased rapidly since its launch, and after 6 years, and with over 350 shows under its belt, Comedy Masala is now recognized as the biggest & most popular weekly show in Singapore, as well as South East Asia.
Since its launch, Comedy Masala evolved into a weekly show featuring the best up comedians from across Asia and internationally. Some of the more notable shows that Comedy Masala has produced and hosted, in partnership with Takeout Comedy Hong Kong, are the ACME COMEDY CO. ASIA TOUR 2014, which was was recorded live for a Film Documentary in USA, and international comedians with TV credits from ‘THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN’, ‘THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO’, HBO, BBC, NBC, CBS, RTE & COMEDY CENTRAL – such as Steve McGrew, Paul Ogata, Matt Davis, Tom Cotter, John Moloney, Jim McDonald, Joe Klocek, Dwayne Perkins, Jimmy Shubert, Michael Harrison, Tony Woods, Butch Bradley, Brad Upton, Nick Griffin, Bob Zany, Aidan Killian, Will Mars, Ron Josol & John Robertson.
